05 — Consulting

Technology strategy that survives contact with reality

Independent guidance on business intelligence, data management, ERP, automation and digital transformation — sequenced so each phase pays for the next.

The Problem

Transformation projects fail from over-reach far more often than under-investment

An ambitious eighteen-month programme is announced. Six months in, the requirements have shifted, the budget is committed, the team is exhausted and nothing is in production. The problem was rarely the technology choice. It was attempting too much at once, without a way of showing value early enough to keep support.

Our Approach

Sequence the work so it proves itself as it goes

We help you identify what to do first, what genuinely depends on what, and where the quick wins are that build the credibility to keep going. That means being willing to tell you when a proposed system is the wrong answer — including when the right answer is a better process rather than new software.

What We Deliver

The work, in detail

Business intelligence strategy

What to measure, who needs to see it, how often, and what the reporting architecture should look like before anyone builds a dashboard.

Data management & governance

Data ownership, quality standards, retention and the practical governance that stops your data becoming unreliable again in two years.

ERP & systems integration

Requirements definition, vendor evaluation, implementation planning and integration with what you already run.

RPA & process automation

Identifying which repetitive processes are genuinely worth automating, and which should simply be redesigned or stopped.

What Changes

What you should expect to be different

These are the outcomes we design for. We will agree which of them matter most to you before any work begins, so success is defined up front rather than argued about at the end.

  • A roadmap with a defensible order, not a wish list
  • Independent advice — we are not reselling anyone's licences
  • Early wins that build internal support for the longer work
  • Requirements written well enough to hold vendors to
  • Realistic assessment of what your team can absorb at once
  • Clear hand-over so the strategy outlives the engagement

How We Work

A process you can follow from the outside

You will always know which stage we are at, what we need from you, and what happens next.

  1. Discover

We start by understanding your business, your people and the problem you actually need solved — not the one the technology suggests.

  2. Analyse

We assess your requirements, existing systems, data and constraints, then agree what success looks like before anything is built.

  3. Design

We design a solution that fits your budget and your team's capability, with security and maintainability built in from the start.

  4. Implement

We build, integrate and test in stages, so you can see progress and give feedback well before launch day.

  5. Support & Improve

We hand over properly, train your team, and stay available to refine the solution as your organisation grows.

Capabilities

Tools and technologies we work with

We choose the tool that fits the problem and your team's ability to maintain it — not the one that is fashionable this year.

Industries

Different sectors. The same underlying problems.

Scattered data, manual processes, ageing systems and security no one owns. We have worked on all four across these sectors.

Questions

Frequently asked

Something not covered here? Ask us directly — we would rather answer it now than have you guess.

How does a consulting engagement usually start?
With a structured assessment: what you have, what is working, what is not, and what you are actually trying to achieve. That produces a written picture of the current state and a prioritised set of recommendations you can act on with or without us.
Are you tied to particular vendors?
No. We are not a reseller and do not earn commission on licences, which means we can recommend the cheaper option, or no new software at all, when that is genuinely the right answer.
Do you implement, or only advise?
Both. Some clients want a roadmap they will execute themselves or with an existing partner; others want us to deliver it. We are equally happy to hand over at the end of the strategy phase.
What size of organisation do you work with?
From small businesses through to corporate organisations and NGOs. The approach scales; what changes is the depth of governance and the length of the roadmap.
